Opening Day at the Hammond Museum and Japanese Stroll Garden
We are so excited for all of the fun things to do this spring in Westchester. One location that is on our radar is the Hammond Museum and Japanese Stroll Garden. Located in North Salem, the museum will be celebrating their opening day on Saturday, April 1st from 11:00am-5:00pm where families can enjoy new exhibitions in the museum, spring flowers in their Japanese-inspired garden, fun activities and tours for all ages, and live music from Chick’s Candy Store.
The museum was founded in 1957 as a location where Westchester residents could enjoy Eastern and Western cultures as well as the beauty of nature. This includes an art museum with a roster of exhibits, educational programs, and classes. The highlight is the Japanese Stroll Garden, which features 3.5 acres of land and includes a pond, rare Japanese plants and trees, and species native to Westchester. The grounds also include a traditional Japanese tea room with imported tea from Kyoto that is used for tea ceremony events.
