Apple Cinemas in White Plains
The Mayor of White Plains, Tom Roach, said, “White Plains loves the movies! When Showcase pulled out, our full focus was on bringing a new theater operator into the space. Our thriving downtown worked in our favor, creating a great deal of interest in the theater industry. I am pleased to welcome Apple Cinemas to our community. Apple has made significant investments in upgrading its facilities and enhancing the ticketholder experience. An exciting new chapter in the long history of entertainment in White Plains is opening. See you at the movies!”
In Westchester County, specifically White Plains, families have eagerly anticipated the return of the movies as a year-round activity. Westchester residents love the movies, and the city of White Plains knows it. Residents were initially concerned when they heard the news of the previous theater’s closure, but the town of White Plains worked swiftly to ensure locals could head to the theater again right in time for summer.
The Executive Director of the Downtown White Plains Business Improvement District, Jennifer Furioli, shares Mayor Roach’s sentiment, stating, “We’re pleased the movies are returning to downtown White Plains, and that the theater, the owners of City Center and the City of White Plains were able to work together so quickly to bring film back into the heart of our commercial center. Movie theaters are good for downtown—we’re thrilled Apple Cinemas has selected our fantastic community for their next location!”
A State-of-The-Art Movie Theatre Experience
Apple Cinemas is the latest chain to hit Westchester County. It has locations in Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York, Massachusetts, Maine, and Connecticut. It is set to open this week in Westchester on May 16th. Families can expect to see a newly renovated lobby, comfortable reclining chairs, self-serve popcorn machines, and an on-site restaurant that will open soon. The restaurant, BurgerFi, will have various delicious food options: burgers, chicken bowls, and more.
The theatre has undergone a massive renovation, now boasting state-of-the-art features. One of the most exciting additions is Apple Cinemas’ partnership with IMAX to launch IMAX with Laser, a next-generation projection and 12-channel sound system designed exclusively for IMAX screens. Apple Cinemas says, “The experience is set apart by its next-generation 4K laser projection system, which delivers increased resolution and sharper and brighter images.” With 1400 seats, both an IMAX and Apple Cinemas Premium Large Format ACX screen featuring 4K LASER, planned to be available at the end of May, and Dolby ATMOS 360-degree immersive sound, Apple Cinemas is bringing Westchester residents the ultimate movie experience.
Apple Cinemas is excited to join White Plains and stated, “Our team is so excited to bring an action-packed and innovative movie experience to the City Center in White Plains. Guests can expect the space to continue evolving over the next month with even more offerings and activities. The space will offer multiple premium auditoriums, including Dolby Atmos and IMAX, and an always fresh BurgerFi menu. All of this has been made possible with the support of our amazing renovation team, vendors, city officials, and team at City Center Mall.”
