Your awesome Westchester weekend is here! This weekend is packed with free activities at many local libraries, and an event the Apple Store where kids can learn how to create their own emojis. There’s also classes for teens, live theater, a free clay class, and some Martin Luther King Jr. Day events! Origami Workshop at the West Harrison Branch

The Legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Enjoy this free, interactive workshop for kids ages 10 and up. Kids will learn about his legacy, meet spoken word artist Giovanni Green, and create their personal statement of power. Balsam Crafts

While Christmas is over, the medicinal and decorative uses of balsam fir needles are ever-lasting! Enjoy a morning making balsam pillows, tea, and other crafts at the Farm. Families will also process balsam fir, sew, and learn more about this seasonally-famous tree. $10 per person, or a maximum of $35. Family Science Workshop: Snows of Other Worlds

Enjoy an interactive Science workshop with your kids at the Hudson River Museum. Backyard Sugaring

Did you know that you can make your own maple syrup right in your backyard? Visit the Farm to learn about the equipment you will need, identifying sugar maples in all seasons, the right way to tap trees, and how to turn sap from maples in your yard into syrup on your pancakes! Hop Into the New Year

Celebrate Lunar New Year at Teatown with Environmental Educator Elissa Schilmeister. Families will learn what a lagomorph is and how it differs from rodents. Meet animals, enjoy a craft, and find out what the Year of the Rabbit has in store for you. Members are $10/family; Non-members are $15/family. The event is limited to five families.
