Jacob Burns Film Center makes the list of the best movie theatres for Westchester kids, because of their programming and educational offerings. Every month sees special kid-friendly film selections. In addition, the Center also features the best films from the yearly NY International Children’s Film Festival. They also have extensive education offerings and school break film camps for kids. Reservations are required for classes. Educational opportunities are held at the Jacob Burns Media Arts Lab across the street from the Center.

Bedford Playhouse
This newly restored historic theatre hosts special events geared for family entertainment. For instance, they offer events like an Opening Weekend Party for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Kids love features such as pre-show lightsaber duels and a Chewabacca’s Roar contest. There’s also a café featuring items other than candy and popcorn. The fare is hearty enough to make this a fun dinner and a show adventure for the entire family.

This historic movie theatre regularly offers special programming for families. Recent offerings featured a Star Wars Mini Camp. In addition, they offer school break and summer camps for kids. Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk IMAX® Theatre
This IMAX Theatre is included in the best movie theatres for Westchester kids. The immersive nature of IMAX makes these films especially exciting for kids. Admission to the Aquarium includes one standard IMAX movie. All standard movies are approximately 40 minutes long. You can also just see an IMAX movie (without Aquarium admission). Purchase tickets for these films directly at the box office. Recent shows included The Polar Express, The Great Barrier Reef, as well as Superpower Dogs. Several different IMAX films are always offered.
