2024 Bicycle Sundays in Westchester
The popular Westchester County program Bicycle Sundays is back! As the County’s longest running recreational program, Bicycle Sundays started in 1974 and quickly became a beloved County-wide activity. Through this program, Westchester residents and visitors can enjoy outdoor exercise while having access to the Bronx River Parkway — without any cars.

In addition to bicyclists, the program welcomes in-line skaters, scooters, walkers, and joggers along its 13.1 miles (round-trip) trail. This covers Exit 22 at the Westchester County Center to Exit 4 at Scarsdale Road in Yonkers. The program does not permit the use of skateboards and no dogs are allowed on the pathway.
Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult and children under age 14 (as well as all riders), are strongly recommended to wear a helmet. Additionally, bicyclists have to comply with the parkway speed limit of 40mph.
Bicycle Sundays kicks off on Sunday, May 5th and runs until October 6th from 10:00am-2:00pm.

Admission to Bicycle Sundays is free. Additionally, free parking is available in the East Lot at the Westchester County Center. If rain occurs, the program will be cancelled.

Westchester Bike Camp
This bike camp offers customized one-on-one bike lessons for kids and adults. With a focus on fun and safety, lessons for kids in Westchester are designed to help kids become comfortable, confident, and self-sufficient riders. Additionally, each child gets a customized training program. Adult learners will learn tools to become more confident and in control. Professor Pedals
Take lessons from this Ardsley-based instructor. Kids will learn the foundations of biking, as well as how to build upon any skills they have. Incredibly, all lessons are private and kids and their parents meet at Concord Road Elementary school. New learners typically need two to three lessons.
Bike/Blade Lessons
Fenom Fitness in Harrison offers private bike riding lessons for kids. Here, kids will learn a range of bike riding skills. This includes balancing, starting, stopping, steering, and navigating local streets. Taught by the “Bike Whisperer,” Westchester kids may even learn how to ride within an hour. Note – all learners must be a bike and helmet. Additionally, they offer rollerblading lessons where kids learn how to balance, wedge walk, glide, heel stop, and turn. REI
Did you know that REI offers free riding lessons throughout the country? In Westchester, they regularly offer lessons in Hartsdale at Ridge Road Park. Here, kids learn how to overcome fears, as well as learn important skills such as starting and stopping. Additionally, kids should bring own bike with no training wheels.
