Delicious Dining at Bond 45 + Broadway Fun at Kinky Boots
We love coming to the city for local adventures with the kids. There are also so many amazing things to enjoy for date night and/or girls night out. One of our favorite experiences is checking out the many restaurants and theater right in our backyard. We recently did just that by enjoying dinner at Bond 45 and checking out “Kinky Boots.”
Dining at Bond 45
The evening started at Bond 45, an Italian Kitchen & Bar on 46th street. The restaurant is conveniently located in the theater district, offering quick access to all of the shows. Once inside, we loved the modern flair and contemporary design, offering classic Italian dishes.
A staple in NYC since 1948 (they used to be located on 45th street), Bond 45 is known for their impressive vegetable antipasto bar which offers a rotating selection of market vegetables and expansive menu with options such as pizza, specialty veal chops, seafood, house made pasta, and breakfast all day.
During our visit, we sampled an assortment of appetizers such as grilled octopus with sicilian hummus, short rib meatballs, and prosciutto and burrata. For our main meal, we enjoyed classic spaghetti and meatballs, NY-strip steak, and fresh black truffle ricotta ravoli with mushrooms. All of the dishes were beautifully prepared and beyond delicious.
The seating was comfortable and cozy – mainly in booth-style seats and circular booths. There are also bar seats around their circular bar where you be right in the action of as well as close to the antipasti bar.
The service was also incredible. Our server paid very careful attention to the time of our play, getting the food out in time so we didn’t have to rush. They also offer live music downstairs, special events, and private dining. If you’re heading to show, or looking for some delicious Italian food, Bond 45 is your go-to place!
Kinky Boots
After the meal, we went to see “Kinky Boots!” Playing at Stage 42, this uplifting musical follows the unlikely paring of Charlie, a shoe factory owner, and Lola, a drag queen. Featuring a score by Cyndi Lauper and written by Harvey Fierstein, the music is filled with so much humor and heart that takes audiences on Charlie’s journey as he attempts to save his family shoe factory, while also discovery what’s important in life along the way.
Lola, along with her band of angels, comes along both to shake up the past and inspires Charlie to rethink what they produce in the factory. The music and dancing was so incredible as we see the factory change and the old way pivot to something glorious…and red!
“Kinky Boots” is closing on November 20th so be sure to see this amazing production with its uplifting music and performances that will leave you uplifted, inspired, and filled with joy.
