Attention Westchester families: It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in our county, and the holiday events are officially ramping up! Christmas tree lighting ceremonies are beginning this week. While some may feel it’s too early for the festivities, those who are eager to get into the holiday spirit will be pleased to know that there are many tree-lighting ceremonies taking place this year, starting with one this week. It’s time to start planning for holiday fun with the entire family, and we’re here to help you get started with our list of tree-lighting ceremonies happening in Westchester.
Friday, November 15th at 6:00 pm
Tree Lighting Celebration at Cross County Center (Yonkers)
Families are invited to Cross County Center for an exciting holiday celebration on Friday, November 15th, featuring the lighting of a stunning 40-foot Christmas tree. Enjoy festive performances, an electric train ride, and even fun with Mrs. Claus and stilt walkers, along with food trucks and a DJ. For some extra fun, head to the pop-up ice skating rink that’s perfect for little ones. Admission is $12 per person for a one-hour session, including skate rentals for ages 5 and up or at least 42 inches tall. The festivities begin at 6 pm, and the tree lighting begins at 7:30 pm.

The Lighting at Ridge Hill (Yonkers)
Join the holiday magic at The Lighting of Ridge Hill! Families will love the newly renovated Town Square, beautifully decorated for the season. The event features lively entertainment from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm, followed by the Tree Lighting Ceremony at 5:30 pm, where Santa will lead the countdown to illuminate the tree. Don’t miss this chance to celebrate and create lasting memories together.

Annual Frosty Day (Armonk)
Head to Armonk for Annual Frosty Day! This annual event is fun for the entire family. Each year, families ring during the holiday season in Armonk, with seasonal activities like train rides, building a frosty, ornament and trinket decorating, performances and music at Armonk Square, and, of course, the Frosty Day Paradee. This year, families can expect to see 40 local groups and organizations spreading the holiday cheer on their decorated floats alongside marching bands. And last but not least, witness the Christmas magic at 4:30 pm with the Lighting Ceremony.

Experience the magic of the holiday season at Katonah’s annual tree and menorah lighting celebration. Families are invited to join the festivities in downtown Katonah for an evening filled with festive cheer. Witness the breathtaking lighting of the tree and menorah as the community comes together to spread joy and warmth. With music, delicious treats, and a holiday spirit in the air, this celebration offers the perfect opportunity for families and friends to kick off the season.

Shine Bright Bedford is back again for a weekend full of holiday cheer for residents of Bedford. The Bedford Village Business Association is bringing families a festive celebration that includes a tree lighting ceremony, caroling, a luminary display, and a fun holiday market.

Holiday Tree Lighting (Mount Kisco)
Join the community for a festive holiday celebration featuring performances by the Westchester Family Church, Mount Kisco Elementary School Chorus, and St. Francis Contemporary Choir. Help spread joy by donating non-perishable food items to the Mount Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry at the truck from Mount Kisco Chevrolet. Experience the magic as Santa and Mrs. Claus countdown to the tree lighting, and enjoy hot chocolate from Fox & Son Caterers. Holiday Electric Lights Parade 2024
On December 7th, the community of Yorktown will celebrate the 13th annual Holiday Electric Lights Parade and Tree Lighting. The parade is set to kick off at 6:00 pm, showcasing spectacular floats and festive lights that will be fun for all. Following the parade, the fun continues with the Tree Lighting Ceremony at Jack DeVito Veteran Memorial Field and Track at 7:00 pm. The parade will begin on Front Street, making its way through the charming streets of Yorktown—another great way to kick off the holiday season in Westchester.

Winterfest (Tuckahoe)
Westchester families are invited to the annual Tuckahoe Winterfest at Depot Square on Saturday, December 7th, from 3 pm to 8 pm. Families can enjoy a variety of activities, including the Dawny Dew Puppet Play, train rides, face painting, visits with Santa, live entertainment, and food vendors. At dusk, the event will feature the Menorah and Tree Lighting Ceremony, followed by caroling by Music at Asbury.

City Lights, Bright Holiday Nights – Tree Lighting
Take part in the holiday celebration in White Plains this year! Watch as the Mayor officially lights the City’s beautiful holiday tree. This special event marks the grand opening of the Holiday Market, where families can explore a variety of local vendors offering unique gifts, seasonal treats, and warm beverages. Enjoy the sights and joyful sounds of the season, including live music, beautiful decorations, and fun activities for the entire family.

Tree Lighting and Winter Stroll
The 4th Annual Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown Winter Stroll will take place on December 14th from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. This annual event features extended shopping hours, beautifully decorated storefronts, storytelling, and a free hop-on-off trolley service. Families can enjoy holiday treats, carolers, an ugly sweater contest, live entertainment, and more. Local shops and restaurants will contribute to the holiday spirit with festive decorations and special offerings for both residents and visitors. Keep the holiday cheer going by joining the Tree Commission, which will host a tree lighting event at John Robertson Park, situated at the intersection of Valley, Chestnut, and North Washington Streets. During the event, they will also offer free trees to residents of Sleepy Hollow!
