This year, Earth Day is commemorating its 54rd anniversary. This day was created to raise awareness about the issues in our environment and how to protect it. People of all ages can do their part to protect the Earth. One of our favorite ways is to give back and participate at one of the many Earth Day events in Westchester. Spring Birding with Doug Bloom

Westchester Parks Foundation Envirothon Volunteers
Pitch in and volunteer with your family as a part of the Westchester County Regional Envirothon. Held at Croton Point Park, volunteers are needed to assist with registration, judging, scoring tests, and orienting attendees. Household Recycling Days
Westchester County Government is hosting two in person recycling days. Here, you can bring household items. This includes old medications, chemicals, paints, electronics, textiles, and more. Firstly, this is held on April 20th at 2957 Crompond Rd., Rte 202, Yorktown, NY, 10598. Finally, the last one is on Saturday, April 27 is at Sprain Ridge Park in Yonkers: 149 Jackson Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10706

Earth Day and Adopt a Highway

Earth Day Weekend
Visit the Westchester Children’s Museum for a packed weekend of Earth Day events. Green Ossining Earth Day Festival
Celebrate Mother Earth at one of the biggest Earth Day festivals in the County. Held on April 20th, this zero-waste festival includes local vendors, activities, music, and a children’s march that kicks off the festival at 9:30am. Earth Day Festival
Kids of all ages and their families can come together for an Earth Day Celebration at Rockefeller State Park Preserve. The event includes animal ambassadors, plant seeds to take home, and a live birds of prey demonstration with birds of prey and reptiles. Highland Lights
Join the Processional Arts Workshop and Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival for the third annual Highland Lights, a community celebration of art and nature on Earth Day. Incredibly, the event will feature a spectacular outdoor procession of lights and community-built lanterns, coupled with storytelling and refreshments. Additionally, Alex Kahn and Sophia Michahelles, of Processional Arts Workshop, will lead a month of free, drop-in sessions.
