The Host

Open Door Family Medical Center, a trusted name in healthcare, will host the Healthier Mamaroneck Access to Care Health Fair alongside the Mamaroneck Coalition Planning Committee.

The center has been providing top-notch health services since 1972. Its core mission is to deliver affordable, easily accessible, and efficient healthcare services to families and community members. After several years of helping our communities, the center remains true to its mission today.

Open Door Family Medical Center serves over 1,000 adults and children daily in the Lower Hudson Valley, accommodating over 300,000 patient visits annually. Its comprehensive services cover all aspects of health, including family medicine, dental care, behavioral health services, women’s health, vision care, insurance enrollment assistance, and more. Open Door operates six health centers in Ossining, Brewster, Mamaroneck, Mount Kisco, Sleepy Hollow, Port Chester, and a dental site in Saugerties.

The Healthier Mamaroneck Access to Care Health Fair is partnering with several local organizations for this upcoming event, including the Alzheimer’s Association, Community Resource Center, Larchmont Mamaroneck Lions Club, Mercy University, MVP Health Care, National Association of Hispanic Nurses, Open Door Family Medical Center, Rye YMCA, White Plains Hospital, and many more.

Marilyn Pacheco, Director of Marketing & Community Relations at Open Door, says, “This health fair will serve as an opportunity to answer the health-related questions of attendees and help identify potential health issues as early as possible; education and prevention, after all, are critical in keeping the members of our community healthy. As we kick off National Health Center Week (August 4 – 10), we support this year’s theme, “Powering Communities Through Caring Connections,” which focuses on empowering communities by connecting them with health centers and elected officials from all levels of government. We aim to reach as many community members as possible.”

What To Expect

The Healthier Mamaroneck Coalition Planning Committee will provide numerous important resources for the community. Families will have access to free health screenings for blood pressure, BMI, vision, and diabetes, confidential HIV testing, and COVID-19 vaccinations. In addition, community-based organizations will provide a wide range of wellness resources for all families to take advantage of.

Families can also expect to have fun at this community health fair! We encourage families to bring their little ones out to this event, as there will be plenty of family-friendly activities and installations for your kids to enjoy. There will be a live DJ, an art mobile, raffles, giveaways, a balloon artist, and a fun and captivating bubble show. MVP Health Care is also generously providing backpacks to all children who schedule a wellness visit at Open Door, which is perfect for the back-to-school season that’s practically around the corner.

Deborah Brundage, MVP Health Care‘s Chief Marketing and Sales Officer, shared why MVP Health felt providing backpacks to our kids was important, “A child’s education is a significant social determinant of health that can have a great impact over the course of their lifetime, by equipping them with backpacks, these children are provided an essential asset that supports their daily learning experience. We are proud to support and partner with Open Door and the Healthier Mamaroneck Coalition Planning Committee and look forward to building healthy communities through education and wellness.”
