Holiday Kick-Off at the Hudson River Museum
Celebrate the start of the holiday season at the Hudson River Museum with a selection of festive programs all weekend at Holiday Kick-Off from Friday, November 29–Sunday, December 1, 11am–5pm! See the full schedule of events here.
Highlights include:
Storyteller Perry Ground: Stories from the People of the Longhouse—two interactive programs about the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) who are among the original inhabitants of today’s New York State. Hear traditional Haudenosaunee stories about their beliefs, customs, and history in recognition of Native American Heritage Day (Friday, 1 & 3pm)
Magic with Didi Maxx—Experience the extraordinary with Didi Maxx, where every performance is a spellbinding journey into the realm of magic and illusion. Didi Maxx’s unparalleled skills and charismatic presence promise to leave the audience utterly captivated and eagerly anticipating the next enchantment (Saturday, 1 & 3pm).
Glenview Holiday Tours—Experience our 1877 Gilded Age home decked out for the holidays in Victorian splendor on a Glenview Holiday Tour. Learn about the Gilded Age holiday traditions of the Trevor family, explore the six fully restored period rooms on a 45-minute guided tour, showcasing beautiful Christmas trees, antique ornaments and toys, and a holiday-themed tablescape (Friday-Sunday, 1 & 3pm).
The Sky Tonight: Holiday Edition Planetarium Show––Enjoy planetarium shows for all ages, including a holiday edition of The Sky Tonight! Take an awe-inspiring tour of the night sky as seen from the area, and learn about the astronomical connections to holiday traditions, including the Star of Bethlehem, holiday lights, wreaths, and yule logs (Friday–Sunday, 2pm).
Art & Science Workshops
In Family Science Workshop: Nebula-in-a-Bubble Holiday Ornament, light up the darkest days of the year with miniature, illuminated models of stellar nebulae, the nurseries where stars are born. Create a festive fan turkey using popsicle sticks, markers, and paper in Family Art Workshop: Turkey Fans, and make your own wearable jewelry in Family Art Workshop: Clay Pendants (Friday-Sunday, 12-4pm).
