Take a little break from the bustling holiday season to step back in time and come tour historic Wayside Cottage. The Junior League of Central Westchester (JLCW) hosts a holiday open house on Sunday, December 16th from 1pm – 3pm. Wayside Cottage located at 1039 Post Road in Scarsdale is decorated with authentic colonial decorations and tours will be offered by costumed guides.
Wayside Cottage which is listed on the National Registry of Historic Sites has grown from a one-room farmhouse built in the late 1600s, to an inn, tavern and post office. In 1853, Wayside Cottage and its land became part of the Butler Family’s country estate which was later deeded to the Village of Scarsdale in 1919 to create an historical park, to preserve the cottage and to provide a center for civic use. The JLCW has been the loyal custodian of Wayside Cottage since 1953.
All are welcome and admission is free. For more information call 914-723-6130 or email jlcw@verizon.net.
