Live Music from JazzFest White Plains

It’s officially JazzFest White Plains week! The festival, which kicked off yesterday, will continue with a full lineup of free and affordable jazz music through Sept. 10 in venues throughout downtown White Plains.

The festival ends (9/10) with an outdoor celebration on Mamaroneck Avenue (between Martine Ave. and Main St.) with food and live music from 12:30-7:30pm – a day perfect for any family outing. All weekend, catch Grammy Award-winning stars and emerging talents before they make it big. Sunday’s headliner, Mount Vernon native Mike Phillips, is a contemporary jazz saxophonist who has recorded and toured with Michael Jackson, Prince, Stevie Wonder and more.

Other notable performances include John Scofield and Joe Lovano (9/8, limited tickets available), Colombian jazz harp virtuoso Edmar Castañeda (9/8) and a tribute to saxophonist Wayne Shorter by the Jazz Faculty Ensemble at Music Conservatory of Westchester (9/9).
