Operation Prom at the Westchester County Center

After a three-year pause due to COVID and flooding from Hurricane Ida that ruined supplies and inventory, Operation Prom is returning to the Westchester County Center in White Plains for a three-day event.

During the event, Operation Prom National Network, a not-for-profit organization that helps low-income students attend their proms by providing free prom dresses and tuxedos, will be providing high quality and low-cost prom dresses and tuxedos to high school students in Westchester County. Each student will receive a formal dress or tuxedo as well as accessories.

Many prom dresses and tuxedos are expensive, making it detrimental for some people to attend. This partnership will ensure that high school students have a chance to attend without worrying about the costs associated with prom night.

Noel D’Allacco-Ammirati, founder of the Operation Prom National Network, Inc., noted, “I’m thrilled that Operation Prom will be back at the County Center with wonderful outfits available for everyone who needs one. No one should miss out on their prom because they can’t afford a dress or a tuxedo and I invite everyone to join us.”

Here’s how to get a tux or dress from Operation Prom this April in Westchester:

  • On Friday, April 28, free dresses and tuxedos are available for high school groups only. Schools can make reservations by emailing Hello@PromNationalNetwork.org.
  • On Saturday, April 29, free dresses and tuxedos will be available for all high school seniors between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • On Sunday, April 30, dresses only will be available to all students and the general public for a $10 donation per dress.

The County is also making Bee-Line bus trips to the County Center free for all students participating in Operation Prom. Students should show their school IDs and mention Operation Prom to bus drivers.

Westchester County Executive George Latimer noted, “I’m excited this year that Operation Prom is able to return to the County Center, and to mark the occasion the County will be offering free Bee-Line bus service for high school students traveling to the County Center to participate. Just show your school ID to the bus driver and mention Operation Prom. Figuring out what to wear to the prom can be stressful enough without also worrying about how you’re going to be able to afford to look your best. We’re very appreciative of the work Operation Prom does to make sure every Westchester high school can go to their prom in style, and we’re proud to help make it even more affordable this year with free bus service.”
