The Pamplemousse Project Donates 100% of Profits to Local Charities

Giving back is an integral part of many companies. However, have you heard of a company that donates 100% of its profits to local charities?

Enter the Pamplemousse Project, a new White Plains-based specialty café that donates all of their profits to charities. Founded by Lydia and Gary Kris, Pamplemousse Project’s mission is to be “Coffee for the Community, which serves as a focal point for the community. Firstly, serving as a meeting place and as a resource for community organizations. And secondly, for the White Plains Public Schools and White Plains Public Youth Bureau. This includes a rotating collection of art from students. Finally, the donations serve the community and provide needed funding for their missions.

Recently, this included an impressive second-round of donations, totalling $10,500 across three Westchester charities. This includes Buddy’s Healing Paws, Interfaith Emergency Food Pantry, and My Sister’s Place. Incredibly, since they opened in December 2022, they have provided $21,000 in grants to different local charities.

The Pamplemousse Project Selection

To participate, organizations can apply for grants on The Pamplemousse Project’s website, and the Customer Advisory Board helps provide direction and guidance on awarding grants.

The Pamplemousse Project’s Customer Advisory Board (made of the café’s customers) selected the three organizations by voting from a pool of 12 options. Incredibly, grants were raised from customer visits.

As for the funds, Buddy’s Healing Paws will ensure that pets can receive needed life-saving medical procedures. Secondly, the Interfaith Emergency Food Pantry will use the funds to help low-income refugees and immigrants in need of services that go beyond the food pantry, including language classes and clothing.
Finally, My Sister’s Place will use the funds to help meet the urgent and varied needs of clients who are facing domestic violence.
