RiverArts Fall Preview

While it is always sad to see summer go, there is a special magic to fall that makes the seasonal transition a little easier. RiverArts, an organization that inspires  communities in lower Westchester County to come together through art, is hosting a roster of art, music, and dance events throughout the Rivertowns. This includes a new music series, an artist conversation, a RiverArts Studio Tour, and the RiverArts Chamber Music Series. Read on to learn more about these exciting fall events!

September RiverArts Events

September 23rd at 8:00pm
New Music Series, Channels Featuring Sky Creature at Purpl

Channels is a new music series that celebrates the river as a means of travel, exploration, and new ideas. Through the series, audience members can experience different “alternative” spaces in the Rivertowns. The first concert features the duo Sky Creature at the newly re-opened Purpl. Additionally, the concert will feature a fusion of art music and punk rock music. Kids over age 12 can attend. $30 per person. 52 Main Street, Hastings-On-Hudson, NY 10706.

Inspiration, Fuel & Identity: A Conversation with Ted & Nune

Enjoy a conversation with Ted Andreasian and Nune Karamyan, led by artist and art restorer, Katerina Spilio. During the talk, Ted and Nune will discuss their new book, Stone and Candle: Armenian Monasteries. Additionally, the book is about their journey into the mountains of Armenia and its’ deeper meaning. Enjoy a performance from the Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE, A Dance Company at the Tarrytown Music Hall.

RiverArts & the Tarrytown Music Hall present: Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE, A Dance Company

Celebrate the 60th anniversary of RiverArts with a performance of Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE. A Brooklyn-based group, the performance will promotes an understanding of the human experience of the African Diaspora through dance, storytelling, music, movement, and spoken word.  Tickets start at $35 per person. Tarrytown Music Hall; 13 Main Street, Tarrytown, NY.

Preview Exhibitions

Enjoy a preview of the work of participating artists from Hastings, Dobbs Ferry, and Irvington on Sunday, October 15th. Additional opportunities include preview on Sunday, October 22nd, featuring works by Sleepy Hollow, and Tarrytown artists at the Shames JCC. Sunday, October 15th at Hastings Village Hall, 7 Maple Avenue, Hastings-On-Hudson and Sunday, October 22nd at JCC Shames JCC, 371 S. Broadway, Tarrytown, NY.

November RiverArts Events

Saturday, November 4th from 11am-5pm; Sunday, November 5th from 11am-3pm
RiverArts Studio Tour

Meet local artists and see their work as a part of the RiverArts Studio Tour. Held at studios throughout the Rivertowns, the tour features a variety of works such as ceramics, collage, drawing, fiber, installation, mixed media, mosaics, painting, performance, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and video.

RiverArts Chamber Music Fundraiser Concert

The Chamber Music Concert features music by Johannes Brahms and Franz Schubert. Tickets for the fundraiser are $100 per person, which includes a cocktail reception after the concert. Newington-Cropsey Foundation; 49 Washington Ave, Hastings-On-Hudson, NY

Drink & Draw

Brush up on your drawing skills and meet new people during Drink and Draw. During this art experience, adults of experience levels and backgrounds, will have the opportunity to draw in an inclusive and fun environment. $20 per class.
