Where to Cut-Your-Own Tree
Start a holiday tradition this year and take the kids to cut down your own Christmas tree!
To make sure you pick the right tree be sure to measure the space — height and width — where your Christmas tree will be displayed at home, and take that measuring tape with you. Remember to pack a saw (or check with the location, they may have one you can borrow), Don’t forget gloves andbe sure to dress warm. Call ahead to confirm dates, times and tree availability.

Open on weekends from Nov. 29 to Dec. 24 you can cut your tree from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit the farm store for seasonal food and decorative items. And there are gift giveaways for children. Santa also visits! See their website for the days and hours when you grab a photo with the jolly ol’ man. Even the White House has been known to host a tree from Cockburn Farm.

Stop by this 12-acre tree plantation on the 75-acre Audubon Sanctuary. There’s flat terrain, easy access and assistance is available. A portion of the proceeds benefits the CT Audubon Conservation and Education Programs. Open the Saturday after Thanksgiving to Dec. 23 on Tuesday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wreaths, roping, swags, tree stands, firewood bundles, and decorations are also available.

Have a little pie, or take one home, after you’ve finished cutting down your Christmas tree at Stuart’s Fruit Farm. Cut-your-own-tree on the day after Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There’s also the option of getting a pre-cut tree here in case you change your mind about cut-your-own. In either case the bakery is open!

Cut your tree from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily from the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 30. Visit the bakery for pies, apple cider donuts, as well as holiday decorations and gifts. They offer a free cup of hot apple cider with every tree purchase. Douglas and Fraser trees available in their fields for Choose-N-Cut, and there are a few pre-cut ones as well.
