The Feeding Families Annual Thanksgiving Drive is Back

Thanksgiving is quickly approaching, and one of our favorite traditions during this season is giving to those in need. While we try to make this a year-round tradition, giving during the holiday season is the perfect time to make sure everyone gets something special. The Children’s Village (CV) is doing its part again this year with the launch of its annual Feeding Families Thanksgiving Drive. CV will be collecting funds and non-perishable food items to distribute to 1,500 young people and families this holiday season.

The Children’s Village (CV) is dedicated to promoting the welfare of children, teenagers, and families. They achieve this by supporting, empowering, and reuniting families, establishing community collaborations, developing inventive initiatives, and providing access to resources that emphasize equality, fundamental necessities, and human rights.

The Children’s Village and the KULU Foundation

Jamila Baucom-Rosal, Vice President for Advancement at The Children’s Village, shared, “Thanksgiving is a time for togetherness and reflection, but for many families, it can be a time of stress and hardship.”

Baucom-Rosal continued, “Our goal is to alleviate some of that pressure by ensuring families can gather over a warm, hearty meal. With the generosity of our supporters, we’re able to provide more than just food—we’re providing peace of mind during a difficult time of year.”

The Children’s Village has partnered with the KULU Foundation to extend its reach. On November 22nd, the KULU Foundation will host a special giveaway event, providing 500 turkeys to young people and families in Harlem. This initiative aims to make a meaningful impact on the community and provides much-needed support during the holiday season.

“Partnering with The Children’s Village aligns perfectly with our mission to give back to communities in need,” said Matt Staubi, Co-founder of the KULU Foundation. “We believe in the power of community, and together we are making sure families have the resources they need to gather and celebrate during the holidays.”

The KULU Foundation is dedicated to supporting marginalized communities in New York through strategic partnerships. Their objective is to empower these communities with the necessary tools to overcome their challenges and to promote a culture of generosity and kindness.

How to Get Involved

This year’s drive provides a variety of opportunities for community members to get involved and make a meaningful impact. These include contributing online through monetary donations, donating items in person, such as non-perishable food items, and even organizing food and canned food drives to collect goods.

CV will be accepting non-perishable items like boxed stuffed mix, instant mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, dry macaroni, canned yams, canned cranberry sauce, canned vegetables, cornbread mix, canned pumpkin, canned pie filling, pie crust mix, salt and pepper, and other spices.

The Children’s Village has provided other ways we can all pitch in to give to families in need this season.

Host a Food Drive

Gather your friends, family, or coworkers and rally them to join in by planning and hosting a food or canned goods drive. The Children’s Village is committed to offering guidance and assistance at every stage of the process to guarantee a fruitful and impactful event. Donate Financially

Financial contributions are always a great way to ensure organizations like The Children’s Village can continue giving back to the community. You can purchase gift cards and nonperishable items in bulk for families in need. Donations of $25 provide a gift card for a turkey for a family of four. $50 provides side dishes for a family of four. $75 provides a full Thanksgiving meal to a family of four. Donation Drop-offs

The Children’s Village’s main campus, at 1 Echo Hill, Dobbs Ferry, NY, is accepting direct donations for families in need. Those who wish to drop off any donations can do so by heading to the main campus. CV will be distributing food and gift cards to families the week before Thanksgiving.

Leydi Rodriguez, Director of Community Engagement at The Children’s Village, shared, “The holiday season can be challenging for families facing economic struggles. We want to help create lasting memories for these families by ensuring they have the food they need to celebrate together. Every contribution—whether food or financial—brings us closer to reaching the 1,500 families we’ve committed to helping this year.”

The drive is scheduled to end on November 25th, so families have plenty of time to help and get involved.
