Fun Things to Do This Thanksgiving Weekend in Westchester

Thanksgiving weekend is here! While we all look forward to a much needed break from our regularly scheduled programming, this Thanksgiving weekend is also the perfect time to cozy up with your family, head out to do some family-friendly activities, and really enjoy the holiday break. In Westchester, there are plenty of things to do this Thanksgiving weekend that every member of your family will enjoy.

Many of us are already seeking some classic holiday experiences themed around Christmas, and Westchester County has plenty to offer this year. Some families may want to finish their holiday shopping, take part in some Westchester traditions, or enjoy some local sights this weekend. We have a variety of fun options for Westchester families to explore and enjoy.

Shop Small

Thanksgiving marks the official start of holiday shopping for many families. What better way to get gifts for your loved ones than to head to a local small business and get something heartfelt and personal that will support one of our many beloved local businesses? Volunteer

One of our favorite holiday traditions is getting out and volunteering in our community. It’s the perfect time to give what we can, even if it means just giving our time. We love to take this opportunity to show our little ones that volunteering is an important part of building community, and this time of year, there are plenty of chances to do so. Check out our list of Thanksgiving volunteer opportunities this year.

Burn Off the Bird

Another local favorite tradition that we have in Westchester is heading out for a hike after a huge Thanksgiving feast. We’re fortunate enough to have some amazing hiking trails in our county, so it’s no surprise that this is such a beloved tradition for our residents. Before you ask, yes, we have a list for that, too! Here’s our list of some great hiking trails in Westchester.

If you’re a resident of New Rochelle, you can head out to burn off that bird with your community this year! New Rochelle will be hosting a “Burn Off the Bird” holiday hike at Ward Acres Park with two family-friendly sessions that everyone can enjoy.

Christmas Tree Shopping

Ready to put up your Christmas tree? Head to one of the Christmas tree farms in and around Westchester to find the perfect tree for you and your family. Snag some photos, make memories on some of these beautiful farms, and get into the holiday spirit this weekend.

While we know that, as parents, having the luxury to sit down, relax, and take a break is sometimes impossible, we hope you take some time for yourselves this weekend to just do what you love with your family. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
