Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF started in 1950 when girls and boys across the United States collected coins in hand-painted milk cartons to help children affected by World War II. Since then, generations of children in the United States have gone door to door on Halloween with the signature orange collection boxes, calling out, “Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF!” The funds help UNICEF with their goal of providing health care, immunizations, access to safe water and sanitation services, basic education, and emergency relief to children around the world.
Over the years many schools and groups in Westchester County have participated in The Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF program including Quaker Ridge Elementary School in Scarsdale, the French American School of NY in Mamaroneck, Furnace Woods Elementary School in Cortlandt Manor, and For Kids Only, Inc. in Briarcliff.
