2024 Family-Friendly Turkey Trots in Westchester
November is here, and that means it’s time for Thanksgiving planning in Westchester; it also means it’s time to start signing up for some of our local Turkey Trots! Throughout Westchester, families prepare for the big holiday by giving back and staying active. We have several opportunities for you and your family to join the fun this November. CHHOP Presents: The Turkey Trot 2024 (Peekskill)
Participate in the Caring for the Hungry and Homeless of Peekskill’s upcoming Turkey Trot.Registration is now open and you and your family can sign up by heading to www.chhop.org/turkeytrot. This year, the event organizers are introducing a one-mile race in addition to the traditional Turkey Trot, which is slightly shorter than a mile. Families must register and bring a frozen turkey to take part in either event. Everyone is eligible for costume prizes, including Best Costume, Funniest Costume, and Largest Team, regardless of whether they race or trot. Check-in will begin at 8:00 am, with the race starting at 9:00 am, followed by the trotters.

Turkey Trot(Mamaroneck)
This fun Turkey Trot includes a 5K and a one-mile gobbler race. Held at Harbor Island Park, all participants receive a free t-shirt and medal during the Turkey Trot.
Families are encouraged to register early for the best price for the upcoming Turkey Trot 5K, featuring a 1 Mile Gobbler. Registration for the 1 Mile gobbler will be $20 until November 23rd and will be $25 on race day, November 25th. Registration for the Turkey Trot 5k will be $40 from November 1st to November 23rd and will be $45 on race day. Trudy Dunbar Memorial 5K Turkey Trot & Gobbler Trot (Tarrytown)
Tarrytown Recreation is hosting the Trudy Dunbar Memorial 5K Turkey Trot and 1-Mile Gobbler Trot, inviting families to race along the scenic riverwalk towards the lighthouse. The event will start and finish at Pierson Park, with the Kid Race (1 Mile) beginning at 9:30 am and the Adult Race (5K) following at 10:00 am. Participants can compete in various age divisions, including 7-9 years, 10-14 years, 15-19 years, 20-29 years, 30-39 years, 40-49 years, 50-59 years, and 60 years and up.
Pre-registration fees for the 1-Mile Gobbler Trot are $30 until October 31 and $40 from November 1 to November 22, with pre-registrants receiving a t-shirt. On race day, registration will cost $50 from 8:30 am to 9:15 a.m., with t-shirts not guaranteed. The Gobbler Race is available for $25 from now until race day. Division winners will receive a turkey! Peter K. Oley Turkey Trot (Irvington)
The Turkey Trot is named after Peter Oley, a renowned track coach in Irvington, who significantly contributed to the race. He coached Irvington High School’s track and cross country teams for 50 years, achieving a 422-47 record in outdoor track and 278-75 in cross country. Oley maintained a remarkable 133 dual-meet winning streak before retiring in 2006 and received 12 Coach of the Year honors, culminating in his induction into the Westchester Sports Hall of Fame in 2002.
The race features a 2.5-mile course through the village, starting at Dows Lane Elementary School and finishing near the Aqueduct in Memorial Park. Families can expect a mix of terrains, including hills and grass, making for a fun experience for all. Support for the event comes from the Girl Scouts. New Rochelle Turkey Trot (New Rochelle)
Now in its 8th year, the New Rochelle Turkey Trot is a cherished Thanksgiving tradition that unites friends and family in the Historic District. Join New Rochelle for an active morning and festivities in the runners’ village. This event promotes fitness and supports local charities by raising funds and awareness for their vital work. Senator Terrence Murphy’s Annual Turkey Trot 2024 (Yorktown Heights)
Senator Terrence Murphy is hosting his Annual Turkey Trot this year, with all proceeds benefiting St. Mary’s Food Pantry in Mohegan Lake and United For The Troops. The community continues to need significant support, and Senator Murphy aims to surpass his fundraising goal of $15,000 this year. For those unable to participate in the race, donations are welcomed, as every dollar contributed makes a difference. Yorktown Heights, NY

Westchester Turkey Trot(Vahalla)
Join The Westchester Turkey Trot and be part of a huge network of runners this holiday season. This annual Turkey Trot is part of the national Thankful Turkey Run/Walk, allowing participants not only to compete locally but also to join over 50,000 runners and walkers across the country. Results will be included in the largest virtual Turkey Trot, so you can see how you match up against other trotters on a national leaderboard.
Use the hashtag #TurkeyTradition to share their photos with fellow runners. The start and finish location will be at Westchester Community College in Valhalla. 2024 Bedford Turkey Trot (Bedford)
The 20th annual Bedford Turkey Trot 5K will take place on November 30th starting and finishing at Bedford Village Memorial Park. The event includes a 5K Walk that begins at 9:00 am and a 5K Run that kicks off at 9:10 am. Families can pick up their packets, which include a running bib and t-shirt, from 7:30 am to 8:45 am. Ample parking is available on-site at Bedford Village Memorial Park. The fees for participating in the 5k run and walk are set at $30. Head to runsignup.com to sign up today!. Rye Recreation Turkey Run (Rye)
The Rye Turkey Run kicks off on Saturday, November 30th at 9:00 am with the Paws Walk, followed by a 1 Mile Fun Run at 9:30 am along with the 3.1 or 5.2 Mile Race/Walk at 10:00 am. Families can take advantage of the Early Bird Fee of $15 for all ages, available until November 26. After that date, the Day of Race Fee will be $20 for all ages.
