Veterans Day Events in Westchester and Beyond
On Veterans Day, we come together to honor the brave Americans who have served our country. In Westchester, we have several celebrations throughout the county that honor our local heroes, and it’s the perfect way to come together as a community and show our support and gratitude to the veterans in our county. This Veterans Day you and your kids can learn more about local veterans as well as celebrate and pay homage to their acts of service. Below, we are sharing a list of local events and activities to help you and your kids learn more about significance of Veterans Day.

Westchester County Veterans Day Ceremony
Westchester County Executive George Latimer and Veterans Service Agency Director Ronald C. Tocci invite the community to join them in honoring our brave veterans at the Veterans Day Ceremony. This event will be held on Friday, November 8, at 1 pm. at Lasdon Park, Arboretum & Veterans Memorial in Katonah, NY. Attendees will have the opportunity to pay tribute to those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom and to show gratitude for their service. Head out and show your support and appreciation for those who have served.
Visit the Westchester County Veterans Museum
Take a trip to the Westchester County Veterans Museum with your kids. Located at Lasdon Park, families will learn more about the story of the self-sacrifice and hardships of Westchester residents who answered their country’s call to duty in time of need, from the Revolutionary War to the present. Children must be at least 7 years old and the museum is free. New York State Route 35, Somers, NY.

For an experience beyond Westchester, visit a national park and enjoy free admission on Veterans Day.

Veterans Day Ceremony, Cortlandt
The town of Cortlandt invites families to honor those who have served and are still serving in the United States Armed Forces on Monday, November 11. The annual Veterans Day Ceremony will take place at 11:00 am at the Muriel H. Morabito Community, with lunch provided. Attendees are asked to RSVP by Friday, November 1, either by calling (914) 734-1002 or emailing RSVP@townofcortlandt.com.

White Plains is set to honor Veterans Day with a meaningful ceremony, thoughtfully organized by the Mayor’s Memorial and Veterans Day Board. This event will take place at City Hall, at 255 Main St., where community members will gather to pay tribute to the brave men and women who have served in the military. 255 Main Street, White Plains, NY.

American Legion Post 90 Veteran’s Day Observances
American Legion Post 90 will be holding its Veterans Day Observances on Monday, November 11th, at 11 am, located at 189 Prospect Avenue in Mamaroneck. The event will include remarks, tributes, and a celebration of camaraderie and community. The outdoor ceremony will last approximately 30 minutes, followed by coffee and treats inside Legion Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend and honor our veterans.

Veterans Day Ceremony, Valhalla
On November 11th the annual Veterans Day ceremony will take place in Valhalla, inviting all veterans, current military members, their families, scouts, and the local community to participate. The schedule begins at 10:30 am with an assembly at the Veterans Monuments by the Gazebo on the Village Green, followed by a ceremony starting at 11:00 am sharp. Families are encouraged to bring a veteran and wear their Legion, ALA, SAL, or veteran caps while dressing appropriately for the weather. 2024 Yorktown Veterans Day Parade
Families are invited to attend the annual Yorktown Veterans Day parade! Veterans and veterans groups are invited to begin the march at Lakeland High School main parking lot, along with any flags and banners. Veterans Day Ceremony, New Rochelle
American Legion Post 8, VFW Post 439, the United Veterans Memorial and Patriotic Association, along with the New Rochelle Veterans Advisory Committee, invite the community to celebrate Veterans Day on November 11 at 11 AM at American Legion Post 8, located at 112 North Ave. There will also be a free special film presentation at 4:00 pm at the Pelham Picture House, at 175 Wolfs Lane, Pelham. Veterans Day Ceremony, Rye
On Monday, November 11th the City of Rye will hold a special Veterans Day ceremony from 10:30 am to 11:00 am, organized by Rye American Legion Post 128, featuring Captain Leo Matthews, USA, as the principal speaker. This year’s event will honor local veterans by unveiling a new plaque recognizing 50 veterans from Iraq, Afghanistan, the Global War on Terror, and the Cold War, along with adding 126 names to the existing Veterans Monuments at City Hall. The ceremony will also update several plaques, including an additional 15 names on the WWII plaque, 44 on the Vietnam plaque, and updates to the Korean War and additional WWII plaques. Somers Veterans Day Parade
Join the community of Somers for a parade honoring all who served, starting at 10:25 a.m. at Somers Middle School. The procession will march to Ivandell Cemetery, where a ceremony will commence at 11:00 am. Following the ceremony, families are invited to enjoy refreshments at the Somers Townhouse. Veterans Day Celebration, Bedford
Families can experience the pride of West Point’s Color Guard, explore an impressive display of vintage military vehicles, and more. The community will have the opportunity to engage with various service organizations, create holiday cards for our brave veterans, and enjoy delicious food, refreshing beverages, and live music. Vets Rock 2023
Take a trip to Mohegan Sun to enjoy a celebration of veterans at Vets Rock. The Vets Rock event at Mohegan Sun celebrates active-duty military and veterans, offering programs designed to improve their lives. This includes a job fair, veteran service organizations, and resources from veteran-owned businesses.
