Westchester Beaches Opening Weekend

Westchester’s family-friendly beaches are gearing up for the summer season, starting with pre-season scheduling! The perfect way to kick off summer is with a visit to the beach. We have everything your family needs to make the most of your summer.

Westchester County Beaches

Playland Beach

Families can visit Playland Beach to enjoy stunning views of Long Island Sound. Guests can experience the excitement of the new Mega Play! Slide, stop by the Sun & Sea Shop for beach essentials, take a stroll on the boardwalk, or engage in a friendly volleyball game. The recently renovated changing rooms and amenities in the historic bathhouse are spacious enough for large families and ideal for freshening up.

Playland Beach is open on Tuesdays to Sundays from Memorial Day Weekend through the beginning of September.

Croton Point Beach

Croton Point Beach is located in Croton Point Park, a 508-acre park on a peninsula along the east shore of the Hudson River. The park hosts various events and activities throughout the year and offers camping, hiking, and swimming facilities. Westchester County operates the park’s beach, an ideal spot for a fun day with the whole family. At this beach, families will find a safe and inviting environment for swimmers of all ages. The park’s beach is a perfect way to enjoy the summer heat. 

Opening Day & Pre-Season/Summer Schedule

During the pre-season, the beach is open on Saturdays and Sundays only, from Saturday, May 25, through Sunday, June 30, and on holidays: Monday, May 27, and Wednesday, June 19. For the summer season, it is open Wednesdays through Sundays, from Wednesday, July 3, until Sunday, September 1, and also on holidays: Thursday, July 4, and Monday, September 2.

Glen Island Beach

Glen Island features a crescent-shaped beach with Long Island Sound access. The beach area is a popular spot for visitors to relax and enjoy picnics and scenic views. Surrounding the beach are pathways, picnic pavilions, and open picnic areas, providing ample space for beachgoers to enjoy the sun and sand. The beach area offers a boat launching ramp for those interested in exploring the waters of the Long Island Sound. With its picturesque shoreline and amenities, Glen Island’s beach is perfect for every family in Westchester.
